What is Hamcho?
Salicornia herbacea or Hamcho grows in groups around mudflats and salt fields on Korea's islands touched by the sea water. Hamcho is an earth plant that lives off the sea water. It draws a lot of sea water along with all of the healthy minerals from the soil. With evapotranspiration, the water is evaporated keeping all of the minerals in itself. The essential vitamins and minerals become heavily concentrated in the plant. These unique plants are known as the "Ginseng of the Sea"
